Pleased To Meet You!
I have always enjoyed designing and drawing as well as problem solving. Ultimately this is what led me to choose architecture as a career and what continues to motivate me.
Having studied Architectural Technology at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, I graduated with a 1st Class Honours degree and went on to work in a number of well known and respected architecture design studios across Aberdeen and Edinburgh.
As someone who loves learning and developing, I undertake regular training and keep up to date with any changes in the industry.
I am passionate about steering clear of consumerism and changing fashions or 'trends'. Disposable architecture is a no go for me. I want to create beautiful, durable low maintenance buildings that will still be standing for generations to come. This why I don't design new build homes. I specialise in renovating existing homes and extensions to existing homes.
For me, buildings are really about people; the people who use and enjoy them. In my case, this is you! This is why I have spent my entire adult life learning and discovering how to make buildings work and most importantly, work for you.
Some architecture studios will have a 'signature style' and this will carry through each of their projects. I have always stayed away from this as I never want to 'push' anything onto you and your project.
After all, I'm designing your home, not mine! I want us to sit down together and have a discussion. I want to find out about you and your lifestyle, you favourite styles, colours and much more so that I can create a home that is perfectly tailored to you!
My influences though are geared towards traditional or period homes that use a combination of conventional and modern materials to achieve a functional, beautiful home and importantly, that achieves it's intended function or use.
Always endeavouring to reduce our carbon footprint, each design is thoughtfully designed with sustainability in mind, by responding to the specific location, context and environment thoughtfully.
Really, it's about striking a balance though. Sustainability is a key part of my design process but this will always be weighed up very carefully against the potential for increased construction costs and feasible payback periods that come with certain materials and technologies.
